[Dispatch=Lee Myung-ju Reporter] The film 'Pupil' (directed by Yeom Ji-ho) is meeting overseas audiences.
The distributor announced on the 6th that "'Pupil' has been officially invited to the Panorama section of the competition category of the 59th Sitges Film Festival opening on October 8."
The Sitges Film Festival is one of the world's three major fantastic film festivals. Multiple Korean films such as 'No Way Out', 'The Outlaws', and 'Train to Busan' have been invited before.
Ángel Sala, the executive president of the Sitges Film Festival, evaluated 'Pupil' as "a work that has established its own identity beyond the framework of a remake."
He continued, "The atmosphere carrying the texture of a horror film and the tension stand out. The meticulously constructed suspense holds engagement until the end."
Meanwhile, 'Pupil' is scheduled for North American release on the 10th. It will subsequently be released in Indonesia, Malaysia, Vietnam, Russia, and Japan.
