[Dispatch=Lee Myung-ju] Director Hong Sang-su's new film has been selected for the international competition section of a major overseas film festival.

Distributor Finecut announced on the 10th that the film "Nowhere to Turn" has been invited to the international competition section of the 79th Locarno Film Festival, which opens on the 5th of next month.

The Locarno Film Festival is an international film festival established in 1946. It is held annually in August in Locarno, Switzerland. It showcases artistic and experimental films.

This marks the fifth time a film by director Hong Sang-su has been invited to the Locarno Film Festival. He won the top prize, the Golden Leopard, with "Right Now, Wrong Then."

The festival said of "Nowhere to Turn," "Director Hong Sang-su has once again shown why he is one of the great masters of our time."

They continued, "We were deeply moved by how he comfortably conveys the meaning, beauty, and complexity of life based on poetic expression and refined technique."

"Nowhere to Turn" is director Hong Sang-su's 35th feature film. It tells the story that unfolds when the protagonist reunites with his divorced mother in Jeju Island during childhood.

Kim Min-hee is credited as a producer. She also contributed her efforts as the lead actress. In addition to Kim Min-hee, Kwon Hae-hyo, Shin Seok-ho, Park Mi-so, and Choi Myung-gil appear in the film.

Meanwhile, "Nowhere to Turn" will have its world premiere at the Locarno Film Festival. Its domestic release is scheduled for the second half of this year.
