'Hope', Pre-sales surpass 500,000…"Will Na Hong-jin become a 10-million director?"

[Dispatch=Lee Myeong-ju] The film 'Hope' (director Na Hong-jin) has completed its preparations to become the 'hope' of Korean cinema.

According to the Korean Film Council's integrated box office reservation system, 'Hope' surpassed 500,000 pre-sale reservations as of 2 p.m. on the 14th. The reservation rate is 65.7%.

The outlook for box office success is bright. Both 'Crime City 3' and 'Crime City 4' exceeded 500,000 pre-sale reservations before their releases. Both films drew 10 million viewers.

'Hope' is director Na Hong-jin's fourth feature film and his first work in 10 years since 'The Wailing'. It tells the story of village residents fighting against an unknown entity.

It was invited to the competition section of the 79th Cannes Film Festival and received its world premiere there. It combines Na Hong-jin's signature sci-fi genre with bold action and thriller elements.

Hwang Jung-min plays Beom-seok, the head of Hopo Port Station. Jo In-sung takes on the role of Sung-gi, a young man from the village. Jung Ho-yeon performs the role of Sung-ae, an idealistic police officer.

Meanwhile, 'Hope' opens on the 15th.
