[Dispatch=Lee Myung-ju Reporter] The film 'Hope' (directed by Na Hong-jin) drew 330,000 moviegoers on its opening day.
According to the Korean Film Council's integrated box office system, 'Hope' topped the box office on July 15, its opening day. A total of 333,918 people watched the film.
This marks the highest opening score of the year. Among director Na Hong-jin's works, it is also the highest. 'The Chaser' drew 110,000 people, 'The Yellow Sea' 120,000 people, and 'The Wailing' 310,000 people.
It also surpassed ten-million-viewer films. 'Exhumation' drew 330,118 people on its opening day. 'The Man Living with the King' was watched by 117,791 nationwide viewers.
Continued box office dominance is expected. The advance reservation rate for 'Hope' as of 8 a.m. on July 16 stands at 63.3%. 552,665 people participated in advance reservations.
Meanwhile, 'Hope' is director Na Hong-jin's fourth feature film. It tells the story of an unknown entity appearing in an ordinary village.
