[Dispatch=Reporter Lee A-Jin] The film 'Hope' (Director Na Hong-jin) has surpassed 1 million viewers.
According to the Korean Film Council's integrated cinema ticket system, 'Hope' achieved a cumulative audience of 1,003,960 as of 12 p.m. on the 17th.
This was accomplished in just 3 days after release. It surpassed 1 million viewers a day faster than 'Collective' (Director Yeon Sang-ho). It is the fastest record among films released this year.
'Hope' is a science fiction thriller film. It depicts a story that unfolds when a mysterious creature appears in a small rural village.
It is Director Na Hong-jin's new work presented some 10 years after 'The Wailing.' It drew anticipation even before its release by being invited to the competition section of the 79th Cannes Film Festival.
It is receiving attention as a theatrical film. The chase sequences driven by the massive creature and intense action scenes complete an overwhelming scale.
Meanwhile, Hope will also be released in North America on September 9th.
