[Dispatch=Reporter Lee A-Jin] Director Yeon Sang-ho is expanding the "Parasyte" universe.

Netflix announced on the 23rd, "The production of the Japanese original series 'Parasyte: Tamiya' has been confirmed. We plan to present a new 'Parasyte' universe."

'Parasyte: Tamiya' is a sequel to 'Parasyte: The Grey'. It depicts the process of parasyte Tamiya Ryoko (played by Kutsuna Shiori) contemplating coexistence with humanity.

Director Yeon Sang-ho participated in planning and screenwriting. Writer Ryu Yong-jae co-wrote the screenplay. Direction is handled by directors Kakimoto Kensaku and Nakagawa Kazuhiro.

Director Yeon said, "Tamiya Ryoko in the original manga 'Parasyte' is a truly charming villain," and explained, "She deepens the work by engaging in existential contemplation."

He continued, "She repeatedly contemplates the coexistence of humans and parasytes, and the coexistence of parasytes," adding, "I wanted to depict her failing and growing through that process."

In particular, this work contains a different story from the existing live-action films and animations. Director Yeon said, "While adding the directors' individuality, we included deep respect for the original work," and asked for anticipation.

Meanwhile, 'Parasyte: Tamiya' will be released next year.
