[Dispatch=Reporter Jung Tae-yoon] The Netflix film "A Possible Love" (directed by Lee Chang-dong) has been officially invited to the competition section of the Venice International Film Festival.

"A Possible Love" was previously invited to the 51st Toronto International Film Festival. It has now received an invitation to the 83rd Venice International Film Festival, which runs from September 2 to 12.

The Venice International Film Festival is counted among the world's four major film festivals alongside the Toronto International Film Festival, Cannes Film Festival, and Berlin International Film Festival. It has introduced works that combine artistic merit and mass appeal.

The competition section to which "A Possible Love" has been invited is the main section of the Venice International Film Festival and the core category from which major award winners, including the Golden Lion, are selected.

Representative Korean films previously invited include "There Is No Way Out," "Pietà," and "The Kind Gold-Daughter." "A Possible Love" has become the 12th domestic work to enter the competition section.

In particular, director Lee Chang-dong won the Best Director award at the 59th Venice International Film Festival in 2002 with the film "Oasis" and led Moon So-ri to win the Best New Actress award. The film swept a total of five awards. Now, 24 years later, he has entered the competition section again. "A Possible Love" is director Lee Chang-dong's new work in eight years.

The story depicts two couples—a laid-off worker and his wife, and a documentary director and his husband—meeting and facing each other's different lives and hidden desires.

Actors Jeon Do-yeon, Seol Kyung-gu, Jo In-sung, and Jo Yeo-jung, representing Korea's top actors, have come together. "A Possible Love" is scheduled to premiere on Netflix.
