[Dispatch=Reporter Jeong Tae-yoon] Netflix film "A Possible Love" (directed by Lee Chang-dong) has been officially invited to the competition section of the Venice International Film Festival.

"A Possible Love" was previously invited to the 51st Toronto International Film Festival. It has now received an invitation to the 83rd Venice International Film Festival, which will take place from September 2 to 12.

The Venice International Film Festival is counted among the world's four major film festivals alongside the Toronto International Film Festival, Cannes Film Festival, and Berlin International Film Festival. It has showcased works combining artistic merit and popular appeal.

The competition section to which "A Possible Love" has been invited is the main section of the Venice International Film Festival and the core category where winners of major awards including the Golden Lion are selected.

Representative Korean films invited thus far include "There Is No Way Out," "Pieta," and "Sympathy for Lady Vengeance." "A Possible Love" has become the 12th domestic work to advance to the competition section.

Notably, director Lee Chang-dong won the Best Director award at the 59th Venice International Film Festival in 2002 for the film "Oasis" and led Moon So-ri to win the Best Newcomer Actress award.

The film swept a total of five awards. After 24 years, he is returning to the competition section. "A Possible Love" is a new work from director Lee Chang-dong after an 8-year hiatus.

The film depicts a story of two couples—a laid-off worker and his wife, and a documentary director and his husband—who meet and face each other's different lives and hidden desires.

Actors Jeon Do-yeon, Seol Kyung-gu, Cho In-sung, and Cho Yeo-jeong, representative Korean actors, came together. "A Possible Love" will be released on Netflix.
