'Hope', drew 760,000 viewers on the weekend alone…"Driving repeat viewings, word-of-mouth"

[Dispatch=Lee Myeong-ju Reporter] The film 'Hope' (Director Na Hong-jin) topped the weekend box office for two consecutive weeks.

According to the Korean Film Council's integrated cinema ticket system, 'Hope' drew 767,365 viewers last weekend (24-26). The cumulative audience stands at 3,415,709.

It surpassed 3 million viewers at the fastest pace among films released this year (11 days after release). It has become the fourth box office hit following 'The Man Living with the King', 'Swarm', and 'Salmonella'.

Behind the popularity is 'Hopfriends' (movie fans deeply invested in 'Hope'), which has driven repeat viewings. By adding their own interpretations to the 'Hope' world, viewers have heightened the enjoyment of watching.

'Hope' begins when the head of an outpost in Hopogang hears from local youths that a tiger has appeared, and encounters an unbelievable reality.

Meanwhile, 'Minions & Monsters' took second place with 117,916 viewers. 'Moana' ranked third, drawing 87,033 viewers.
