[Dispatch=Myung-ju Lee] Actor Park Hae-jun faces off against Lee Byung-hun.
Production company Hive Media Corp announced Park Hae-jun's casting on the 28th. "Park Hae-jun has joined 'Nambeol.' He takes on the role of Yoshi, the leader of a group of Japanese pirates," it said.
'Nambeol' is a hard-boiled martial arts action film. It tells the story of nine warriors with different abilities and ranks from early Joseon heading to Tsushima to rescue prisoners who were kidnapped by Japanese pirates.
Park Hae-jun takes on the role of Japanese pirate Yoshi. Yoshi is a ruthless character who will stop at nothing for his ambitions and objectives. He faces off against Joseon's warriors.
In particular, he develops a confrontational dynamic with the character Im Eok, played by Lee Byung-hun, heightening the tension of the narrative. Through his weighty charisma, he renews yet another life character.
'Nambeol' is director Lee Mo-gae's directorial debut. He served as cinematographer on 'Spring in Seoul,' 'Exhuma,' 'Hunt,' and 'Opposition Party,' among others. He drew attention for presenting distinctive mise-en-scène.
Meanwhile, 'Nambeol' is in pre-production. It is scheduled to begin filming in the second half of this year.
