[Dispatch=Reporter Lee A-jin] Actor Jungwon Choi from 'UN' has been given suspended prosecution for allegations of intimidating a former romantic partner with a weapon.

The Seoul Central District Prosecutors' Office's Women and Children Crime Investigation Division 2 suspended prosecution of Jungwon Choi on aggravated intimidation charges on the 16th. Charges related to coercion using intimate images and violations of the Stalking Punishment Act were dismissed.

First, the aggravated intimidation charge was given suspended prosecution. Aggravated intimidation can be prosecuted even without the victim's wish for punishment. However, the prosecution took into consideration that A had expressed his wish not to pursue punishment.

A reported the case directly to police at the time. A few days later, A submitted a statement requesting not to pursue punishment, and was known to have requested leniency for Jungwon Choi during the prosecution's supplementary investigation.

The prosecution dismissed the charges related to coercion using intimate images and violations of the Stalking Punishment Act due to insufficient evidence. Particularly regarding coercion through intimate images, the prosecution considered it was a spontaneous remark, and that it would have been difficult for celebrity Jungwon Choi to distribute videos.

The Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency's Jung-gu Station referred Jungwon Choi to the prosecution in November of last year. Jungwon Choi was accused of going to A's residence with a weapon and intimidating A after A, who had been in a romantic relationship, notified him of a breakup in August of the same year.
