BTS, 1.4 Billion Additional Views… 'Idol', Fifth MV Record

[Dispatch=Reporter Lee Myung-ju] BTS has produced another music video that has surpassed 1.4 billion views.

Big Hit Music announced on the 30th, "BTS's 'IDOL' music video, released in 2018, has exceeded 1.4 billion cumulative views (as of the 29th)."

It is their fifth music video to reach 1.4 billion views. They have previously achieved this record with 'Dynamite,' 'Boy With Luv,' 'DNA,' and 'Mic Drop.'

The 'IDOL' music video features a festive atmosphere set against a tropical savanna landscape and stages that draw on Korean traditional aesthetics, including the Bukcheong lion dance.

The choreography is distinctive as well. African dance Guaraguara is mixed with Korean dance. The performance combines samulnori and mask dance with graphic effects added.

The song itself is both Korean and global. South African beats are layered with Korean traditional rhythms and vocal interjections. The combination of heterogeneous elements creates a unique appeal.

It drew worldwide popularity. The song ranked 11th on the US Billboard main song chart 'Hot 100' right after release. It also reached 21st on the UK 'Official Singles Top 100.'

Meanwhile, BTS is carrying out their world tour 'ARIRANG.' They will continue performances at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey on August 1-2.
