Gong Hyo-jin, K-eldest daughter of 'Gyeongju Trip'... "I wanted to breathe life into the narrative"

[Dispatch=Lee Myung-joo] Actress Gong Hyo-jin becomes a K-eldest daughter. She plays a helper who assists in the mother's revenge plan.

Gong Hyo-jin took on the role of Jang-ju, the eldest daughter, in the film "Gyeongju Trip" (directed by Kim Mi-jo), which opens next month. She is a character for whom the mother comes first even after starting a family.

She joins the revenge trip for the youngest child who failed to return from a school trip. However, if things go wrong, she feels inner anxiety about "what will happen to the remaining family members."

Gong Hyo-jin initially declined to appear due to schedule conflicts. However, word has it that the lingering impression left by the screenplay stayed with her. Ultimately, she chose the project.

She explained, "After reading the screenplay for 'Gyeongju Trip,' the afterimage remained for several days, the power of the writing was great, and I really wanted to breathe life into this narrative."

Director Kim Mi-jo said, "Jang-ju appears mature, but is actually the most dependent and endlessly wavering. Gong Hyo-jin embodied the complex K-eldest daughter."

In particular, the chemistry with Lee Jung-eun, whom she meets again as a mother-daughter pair, raises expectations. The two portrayed a touching mother-daughter relationship in the drama "When the Camellia Blooms" (2019).

Gong Hyo-jin said, "I wanted to see Lee Jung-eun once more. After seeing the screenplay, I felt I wanted to support the mother Oksil from the side."

Meanwhile, "Gyeongju Trip" tells the story of four mother-daughter pairs embarking on a "killer" trip after waiting eight years. It opens on the 26th of next month.
