"Kim Se-jeong, Catching a School Bully"…'The Empress of High School', Casting Revealed

[Dispatch=Lee Myung-joo Reporter] Singer and actor Kim Se-jeong will deliver refreshing action as she moves between the Joseon Dynasty and the 21st century.

Production company Studio Dragon revealed the casting lineup for new drama "Queen High School" (screenplay by Lee Jeong-tae, directed by Yoon Sung-sik) on the 31st. Kim Se-jeong, Bae Hyun-sung, and Jo Han-gyeol will appear.

"Queen High School" is based on a webtoon of the same name on Naver. It tells the story of a Joseon queen consort who awakens 400 years later in the body of a bullied high school girl and educates the wrongdoers.

Kim Se-jeong takes on the role of Kim Chung-ha, Joseon's greatest warrior and queen consort. Chung-ha dies caught up in palace intrigue and awakens again in the body of high school student Kim Da-jin.

The work delivers refreshing developments. She begins to suppress the school bullies who have tormented Da-jin by utilizing the grace of a queen mother and the instincts of a warrior.

Kim Se-jeong shared her thoughts: "(Chung-ha is) a character that contains all the diverse aspects of the characters I have performed so far. I am preparing with excitement and responsibility."

She continued, "The work is one where the thrill given by each episode is great," and added, "I will do my best until the end to deliver great fun and emotion through the character Chung-ha."

Bae Hyun-sung plays Sung Won-ju, Chung-ha's bodyguard, and Sung Si-u, an ace of the kendo club. He shows contrasting charms as a loyal servant who admires the queen consort and a prickly student.

He said, "The story itself, which blends action, romance, and fantasy, was interesting and fun. I will prepare hard to introduce this as a good work."

Jo Han-gyeol plays King Lee Nyung of Joseon and Lee Do-yoon, a transfer student. These are characters who seem to have stories hidden behind their smiles. He shows multifaceted sides as he becomes entangled with the two.

Jo Han-gyeol said, "I was truly excited hearing the casting news. I'm already looking forward to filming," and added, "I will show you good work, so please look forward to it and cheer us on."

Direction is handled by director Yoon Sung-sik. Director Yoon has previously worked with various genres such as dramas "Lover of the King," "The Iron Queen," "Bridal Mask," and "Strong Unit" in popular and sophisticated ways.

Meanwhile, "Queen High School" is set to be released on Tving next year.
