Dino, Launching 'Alternate Character' Pichel-in… "Let's Have Fun! Let's All Play Together"

[Dispatch=Reporter Lee Myung-ju] Dino of SEVENTEEN is broadening his musical spectrum once again.

Dino will release a new solo album on various music platforms on the 3rd at 6 p.m. He presents his mini first album 'Jilboard' (吉BOARD) under the name Pi Cheorin, his "sub-character."

'Jilboard' is an album that expresses various genres of music such as city pop and new jack swing with a Korean sense of excitement and joy. Dino is challenging K-pop idols' first "sub-character" album.

The title track is 'Norabosae.' It is a song with excitement added to an EDM track sound. The lyrics contain a message to have fun together regardless of age and gender.

A related music video teaser has also been unveiled. It captured Pi Cheorin's version of "Korean rave." The scene shows people of all ages gathering together to hold a massive festival.

Special artists also lent their strength. World-renowned choreographer Kani and YouTuber Lallal's "sub-character" Lee Myung-hwa made surprise appearances. This heightened curiosity about the full version.

<The following is Dino's full Q&A>

Q. How do you feel ahead of the Pi Cheorin album release?

Dino: I am very nervous and excited. I'm curious to see how many people will appreciate 'Jilboard.' I want to show all the songs soon.

Q. What was the most important focus when composing the album?

Dino: Overall, I think I put a lot of thought into composing it with genres that could well capture Korean retro and the emotions of joy and sorrow. I tried to express various emotions of life that contain excitement and spirit beyond simple enjoyment.

Q. Your name appears in the credits of all songs. What was the working process like?

Dino: It was very enjoyable. Even with heavy topics, through Pi Cheorin, I was able to approach them more comfortably. I was able to put sincerity into the music as well. I worked fun and laughed a lot with producer Bum.

Q. The lineup of participants is impressive.

Dino: First, it was an honor to work with great senior artists. I express my deep respect and gratitude to them again. I think 'Jeongmal (prod. Lee Hyun-do of DEUX)' became a song that spans generations thanks to senior Lee Hyun-do's producing. It was also an opportunity for me to learn a lot musically from the senior. The song 'There is No Parting Without Pain (narr. Lee Moon-sae)' seems to be completed as a drama through senior Lee Moon-sae's narration.

Q. What kind of song is the title track 'Norabosae (prod. Hitchhiker)'?

Dino: It is the song that best captures Pi Cheorin's philosophy, a song that is very Pi Cheorin-like. Hitchhiker took on the producing, and a song was created that well harmonizes a sophisticated and flashy track with witty lyrics. From the first listen, I thought 'This is it!' Pi Cheorin's unique nonchalant charm and free-spirited energy will be evident in the performance as well, so please look forward to it!

Q. You premiered new songs first through stages such as KBS1's 'Nationwide Singing Contest.'

Dino: As Pi Cheorin, I wanted to approach many people in a familiar way. I thought about what method would be good, and what I chose was the 'stage.' In keeping with the meaning of 'Jilboard,' I wanted to share Pi Cheorin's music and the emotions of joy and sorrow contained within it with many people. When I look at the stages of senior artists who were active in the 1970s and 80s, I feel the freedom and individuality unique to artists. I also prepared the stage with the desire to express myself more freely like that.

Q. What appearance did you want to show through Pi Cheorin, or what message did you want to convey?

Dino: I wanted to challenge a concept I had never attempted before. I wanted to show a fresh side that only I could express. I hope 'Jilboard' becomes joy, resonance, and comfort in a busy, painful, and sometimes exhausting daily life, and that it remains another growth and boldness for me.

Q. Why do you continue to take on challenges, starting with your "sub-character" debut?

Dino: Rather than pursuing comfort, I have collided with and challenged new things, and through that process, I have felt myself grow a lot. I also don't really prefer to stay in one place. It seems like I continuously think and challenge myself to find newness even within familiarity.

Q. What would you like to tell your fans?

Dino: The driving force of my challenges is all of you CARATs (CARAT. fandom name). When I think of the stage or create something, I always think of CARATs. No matter how the situation and environment change, no matter how much time passes, the reason for my existence is CARATs. I am truly grateful for and love how you always care for and love me.
