[Dispatch=Myung-joo Lee] Red Velvet is continuing its summer hit formula.
Red Velvet released its new mini album "Velvet Summer" on various music platforms on the 3rd. The new album swept domestic and international charts.
"Velvet Summer" climbed to No. 2 on the iTunes Worldwide album chart. It also topped the charts in 15 countries and regions in total, including Denmark, Sweden, Taiwan, and Thailand.
It ranked in the top 10 across 28 countries and regions worldwide. The new album recorded No. 2 in France, No. 4 in Mexico, No. 7 in Japan, No. 8 in the United States, and No. 9 in the Netherlands.
It also achieved No. 1 on China's QQ Music digital album sales chart and Korea's overall music video chart, as well as "Gold Album" certification (sales exceeding 250,000 yuan).
The title track "Surfin' Boy" also gained significant popularity. "Surfin' Boy" ranked at the top of the Bugs real-time chart as of 4 a.m. on the 4th.
Red Velvet placed all tracks from the album on Melon's "Hot 100." "Surfin' Boy" ranked at No. 2, and "Hot Girls Cold Vibes" entered at No. 16.
"Surfin' Boy" is a dance track that blends a languid bossa nova guitar, relaxed reggae rhythm, and sensual house groove. Member Joy wrote the lyrics.
The music video is also being loved. It reinterpreted sirens and the frog prince. It maximized immersion with a mysterious atmosphere that moves between reality and imagination.
