[Dispatch=Lee Myung-ju Reporter] Director Christopher Nolan's latest film took the No. 1 spot at the box office on its opening day.

According to the Korean Film Council's integrated box office system, "Odyssey" attracted 291,359 viewers on the 5th. It debuted as No. 1 overall at the box office.

It surpassed "Spider-Man: Brand New Day" (directed by Destin Daniel Cretton), which had maintained the No. 1 position for eight consecutive days.

It also led in advance ticket reservations. As of 8 a.m. on the 6th, "Odyssey" recorded a real-time reservation rate of 47.1%. A total of 582,503 tickets were pre-booked.

"Odyssey" tells the story of Odysseus (played by Matt Damon), the hero who led the Trojan War to victory, returning home through trials of fate.

Hollywood actor Matt Damon played Odysseus. Anne Hathaway took on the role of his wife Penelope, and Tom Holland played his son Telemachus.

Meanwhile, "Love's Ha-Chu-Ping: The Legend of the Whale Jewel" (100,000 viewers) ranked No. 3 at the box office, and "Hope" came in fourth place (30,000 viewers).
