"Nine doesn't know, but Nine wins?"…KBS drama, OST voting controversy

[Dispatch=Reporter Lee Myung-ju] "There was no prior consultation."

Arvin found themselves in a difficult situation due to the unilateral decision of the fan voting platform.

F&F Entertainment released an official statement on August 6 regarding the fan voting for the selection of original soundtrack (OST) vocalists for the KBS-2TV weekend drama 'Love Comes.'

The 'Rematch' and 'JKFandom' sides recently conducted the 'Love Comes - OST Match Point Idol Final' voting without prior consultation.

The platform disclosed the fan voting results on the 27th of last month, announcing that "Arvin won the final championship" and would be "releasing the 'Love Comes' OST."

The issue is that the agency and artist were excluded from this fan voting. To perform a drama OST, production schedules and contract terms must be discussed.

The companies did not inform the agency of the candidate selection process either. It is reported that when the agency learned of this, they requested exclusion from the candidacy, but it was not accepted.

Most importantly, fans suffered significant damage. They paid money and purchased points to vote for their favorite artist, exercising voting rights. It amounts to exploiting fan loyalty.

The platform also conveyed incorrect information to fans. When fans asked about the cause of Arvin's failed participation in the drama OST, the platform blamed the agency and artist.

They cited busy schedules and burden on members. Fans responded, "We invested considerable resources, time, and energy at the fandom level," expressing disappointment.

The agency stated, "We received no prior proposals or consultations regarding the OST in question. Nor was consultation held regarding the voting."

An official added, "We inform you that in cases where voting proceeds without prior consultation with the premise of artist participation, participation is impossible regardless of the results."

The broadcaster and OST production company are equally troubled by this incident. KBS in particular is a public broadcaster operated with tax funds and expressed displeasure with the paid voting fact.

A KBS official told Dispatch, "This was not officially conducted by the production company. An OST promotion-related company independently proceeded with it."

They continued, "The selection of OST vocalists is not determined through voting. The OST production company selects vocalists and then shares them with the production team."

Meanwhile, Arvin made a comeback last month with their mini third album 'RUN TO YOU.'
