"'Squid Game' U.S. Version Unwatchable… "Spinoff Project Halted"

[Dispatch=Lee Myung-ju] The U.S. version of Netflix series "Squid Game" production has fallen through.

U.S. media outlet The Playlist reported exclusively on the 7th (Korean time) that "Netflix has decided to halt the 'Squid Game' spin-off project."

The project was planned as an American version of "Squid Game." It was dubbed "Heckler." The plan was to present a new series set in the United States.

In particular, director David Fincher was set to direct the "Squid Game" spin-off, and Dennis Kelly, the writer of "Utopia," was scheduled to write the screenplay.

The media reported that "Netflix actively pushed forward with English-language production, but as the development process stretched over several years, the project's priority decreased."

The project also lost momentum. Director Fincher moved on to work on another project. He is preparing Netflix film "The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes" and others.

"Squid Game" is the most successful Netflix original series to date. Season 1, Season 2, and Season 3 each ranked 1st through 3rd.

Meanwhile, Netflix has not issued any statement regarding the "Squid Game" spin-off production.
