'Odyssey', box office reservations surge... "2.89 million reservations in second week of release"

[Dispatch=Lee Myeong-ju] The film "Odyssey" (directed by Christopher Nolan) has captivated Korean audiences. It has solidified its box office momentum beyond its opening week.

According to the Korean Film Council's integrated box office reservation system, "Odyssey" recorded a 66.5% advance reservation rate as of 8 a.m. on the 13th. The number of advance reservations exceeded 897,419.

Pre-booking volumes increased significantly compared to the opening week. On the opening day, the 5th, the number of advance reservations was around 560,000. It achieved a reverse run in its second week.

Word of mouth is behind the success. The return journey of Odysseus (played by Matt Damon) that dominates the screen and director Christopher Nolan's direction with minimal CG have brought audience satisfaction to the highest level.

Tailored promotions for Korea also worked. Director Nolan and the "Odyssey" team set foot in Korea four days before the film's release. They held press conferences, red carpet events, and appeared on variety shows.

"Odyssey" is director Nolan's new film. It depicts the hero Odysseus, who led the Trojan War to victory, overcoming fateful trials to return home.

Meanwhile, "Spider-Man: Brand New Day" ranked 2nd in advance reservations at 19.4% on that day. 250,000 people made advance reservations. "Okay Madam 2" is in third place with a 3.4% reservation rate.
