Kim Minhee Makes First Official Appearance After Welcoming Baby Boy... "I Breastfed and Fed Him Baby Food While Filming"

Actress Minhee Kim made her first official appearance since giving birth.

On the 13th (Korea time), Minhee Kim attended a press conference for the invited film "Nowhere to Turn" at the 79th Locarno International Film Festival held in Locarno, Switzerland.

"Nowhere to Turn" is director Hong's 35th feature film and Minhee Kim's return project after approximately two years. It was invited to the International Competition section of the Locarno Film Festival.

This press conference was the first time Minhee Kim met with overseas press after giving birth in April of last year. She shared her impressions of returning to the film industry as a "working mom."

Minhee Kim said, "My state was different from before," and "It was busy. While filming, I had to breastfeed and prepare baby food," describing the changed circumstances.

She said it rather helped her acting. "The complete immersion in the film before (childbirth) disappeared. I think that was projected healthily onto Sanghee," she expressed satisfaction.

Minhee Kim said, "Wasn't it similar to the beauty that Sanghee seeks? I think the heart that accepted that moment joyfully amid the busyness of daily life came out."

She also expressed admiration for director Hong, with whom she maintains a relationship outside of marriage. "Expressing the director's thoughts through acting is such great joy and honor," she said.

Regarding her work with director Hong, she explained, "Because I'm not trying to be something, my acting becomes more like myself. Watching the film, I discover a new side of me."

Director Hong and Minhee Kim have a special connection with the Locarno Film Festival. This is director Hong's fifth invitation. He received the Golden Leopard for "The Handmaiden" (2015).

Minhee Kim also won the Acting Award at the festival for director Hong's "Ill Consider It" (2024). At the time, Minhee Kim said, "I want to show you another good film."

Meanwhile, "Nowhere to Turn" is a work centered on a couple's divorce. It tells the story of the protagonist reuniting with her mother, who divorced when she was young, in Jeju Island.
