[Dispatch=Yuha] A wave of mourning from actors continues toward late director An Pan-seok.
The deceased's wake was held on the 14th at the funeral hall of Seoul National University Hospital in Jongno-gu, Seoul. Many actors including Yoo Hae-jin, Hyun Bin, Kim Hee-ae, Ko Hyun-jung, and Jung Hae-in sent floral wreaths to bid farewell to the deceased.
Kim Hye-soo expressed her grief in an interview, saying "Upon hearing the news (of his passing), I was in a daze for a long time. My heart was heavy," and "I feel respect for having devoted even his final life."
Kim Hee-ae uploaded a photo from the set taken with the deceased on SNS. She reminisced, "Seeing us all laughing together while looking at the monitor, it seems like it was truly a happy filming set."
Kim Hee-ae worked with director An Pan-seok on "Wives" and "Secret Love Affair." She paid tribute, saying "He recognized my acting and gave me a precious opportunity," and "I am sincerely grateful and respectful."
Kim Hye-un, who appeared in "Secret Love Affair," also expressed her condolences. She wrote, "He gave me the honor of working together on the work 'Secret Love Affair,'" and "Director An Pan-seok, who expanded the depth of my heart. May you rest peacefully in heaven."
Jeong Ryeo-won also remembered the deceased. On SNS, she said, "I am grateful for sparking inspiration in the hearts of many actors," and "I don't know how hard I worked wanting to receive the director's 'first place' stamp."
Jeong Ryeo-won formed a connection with director An through the drama "Graduation" (2024). She expressed respect, saying "I am grateful that you taught me to live close to writing, and that you did not compromise on certain things on set."
Cha Kang-yoon conveyed her longing for the deceased, saying "Whenever you told me to always believe in myself and move forward, remembering when you placed kkakdugi on top of baeksuk—indescribable emotions rush over me. I will become an outstanding actor. Please keep watching over me."
Director An Pan-seok was a representative director in Korean drama. He directed numerous works including "The White Tower," "Wives," "Secret Love Affair," "Heard It Through the Grapevine," "Pretty Noona Who Buys Me Dinner," "Spring Night," "Graduation," "The Art of Negotiation," and others.
His final work is the new ENA drama "Dating Expert." It is currently in the editing phase after filming has been completed. The production team stated, "We express deep condolences to the director as he passes."
The deceased passed away on the 12th at the age of 64. It is known that his condition worsened while battling cerebral hemorrhage. The funeral procession is scheduled for 9:30 a.m. on the 15th, and the burial site is Seoul Municipal Sungwha Cemetery.
