'Hope', opening film of Hong Kong Film Festival...Director Na Hong-jin confirms attendance

[Dispatch=Myung-ju Lee] The film 'Hope' (directed by Na Hong-jin) is being introduced as the opening film of a Chinese-language film festival.

The Korea Cultural Center Hong Kong announced on the 18th that "'Hope' has been selected as the opening film of the '2026 Hong Kong Summer International Film Festival'."

The Hong Kong Summer International Film Festival is a film festival held every August by the Hong Kong International Film Festival Association. This year it will take place from the 19th to the 31st at Premier Elements and other venues.

'Hope' will be screened twice on the 19th, opening day. Director Na Hong-jin will attend and meet with audiences. On the 20th, a screening of 'The Wailing' and a masterclass are scheduled.

The film begins with a story in which the director of the Hobo Port branch office hears from local youth that a tiger has appeared, and encounters an unbelievable reality.

It has produced numerous 'Hope-enthusiasts' ('Hope' fans who are deeply immersed in the film). Through repeated viewings, they have added their own interpretations to the worldview of 'Hope' that the director has embedded.

Meanwhile, 'Hope' surpassed 4.488 million cumulative viewers as of the 17th.
