[Dispatch=Lee Myung-ju Reporter] Actor Ha Jungwoo is participating in a prequel film to 'Insiders' (2015).

Hive Media Corp. revealed the casting lineup for 'Insiders: The Birth of Villains' (Directors Kim Min-beom and Kim Jin-seok) on the 20th. Ha Jungwoo, Ahn Bo-hyun, Park Hae-jun, and Jeong Sung-il will appear.

'Insiders: The Birth of Villains' is set in the 1980s. It depicts the birth process of 'insiders' within a massive cartel formed through media, capital, and power.

Ha Jungwoo takes on the role of Lee Kang-hee, a newspaper reporter. He is a character who dreamed of a major scoop on corporate misconduct but was pushed to a minor position due to external pressure. He later creates the beginning of a power cartel.

Ahn Bo-hyun plays Ahn Sang-gu, the head of an entertainment agency. He is a character who started from the bottom and rushes toward his own success and revenge. He both cooperates and clashes with Ha Jungwoo.

Park Hae-jun plays Jang Pil-woo, a first-term congressman. He ended his career as a prosecutor and entered politics. Through dealings with the media, he is an ambitious man trying to climb to the core of power.

Jeong Sung-il plays Oh Hyun-soo, the chairman of Mirae Group. He is a man who grew the group by any means necessary. He seeks to stand at the apex of the cartel with massive capital.

Direction is jointly handled by Director Kim Min-beom and Director Kim Jin-seok. They are respectively from the assistant director backgrounds of 'Spring in Seoul' and 'The Ruling Class.' They have brought moments of modern Korean history to the screen.

A representative stated, "'Insiders: The Birth of Villains' is the official prequel to 'Insiders,'" and expressed anticipation, saying "it will shed light on the beginning of how the axis of power was formed."

Meanwhile, 'Insiders: The Birth of Villains' is currently in pre-production with the aim of beginning filming this year.
