[Dispatch=Reporter Lee A-jin] "We prepared until not even a hint of regret remained." (Jay)
ENHYPEN has returned with deepened masculinity. In place of the sharp appeal of their previous work, they aimed for a shift toward a wild yet relaxed atmosphere. They added rhythm-filled performance to the trending Brazilian funk sound.
Since this is the first album following member changes, they put in considerable effort. They devoted more thought and energy than ever before. With the resolve to leave no small regret behind, they raised the completeness of the work.
Jay said, "We ourselves think this is the most confident ENHYPEN album," and "We approached it with the determination to create the best album of our career."
ENHYPEN held a press conference for their mini 8th album "THE SIN : BLISS" on the 20th at the Mondrian Hotel Itaewon in Yongsan-gu, Seoul.
This is their first comeback after reorganizing into a six-member system. Since May, they accumulated sufficient experience performing on stage as six members while touring the world tour "Blood Saga." Their confidence outweighed their concerns.
Jungwon said, "Regardless of any situation, we prepared with the stage and performance as our top priority," and "Through the tour, we confirmed that ENGENEs share the same mindset as us. We drew strength from that energy and prepared."
The members exchanged opinions more fiercely than ever for the best result. Jay emphasized, "We monitor reactions to every album, but this time we paid special attention."
He continued, "Members have always done well together, and I had always thought ENHYPEN was a team that always performs well," but then confessed, "After this tour and preparing the album, I felt that we become much more solid and bold when standing before our fans."
"THE SIN : BLISS" is the second installment of "The Sin" series. In the previous work "THE SIN : VANISH," it told the story of a vampire beginning to flee with their lover. This time, it depicts the process of realizing that being together itself is a blessing as they face trials during their escape.
The tracklist was structured in the format of a mystery show reporting on the escape incident. Actor Park Jung-min participated as the host for narration again this time.
Jay said, "A narration track comes from the beginning," and "It's an album where narrative, lyrics, and sound connect organically. I hope you listen to all the songs in order."
The album contains a total of 10 songs: "Two Fools," "Breaking News," "Stuck," "Bad For You," "Remnants of Love," "Bloody Paradise," "Final Moment," "Checkmate," "Highlight," and "Hidden Truth."
The title track is "Bloody Paradise." It is a Brazilian funk genre. It expresses the situation of lovers gazing only at each other even amid crisis, comparing it to paradise.
It has a different atmosphere from previously released music. Jake said, "When I heard the demo, it felt different," and "I thought this was an opportunity to show many new sides of ourselves."
The choreography also underwent changes. While they previously mainly showed precise and disciplined movements, this time they emphasized larger and groovy motions with weight.
Sunghoon hinted, "The choreography in the chorus where we grab our shirts and rotate our hips is a huge point," and "There's also a motion of sweeping our hair back. Please pay attention to it."
Each member also picked their favorite B-side track. Sunoo chose "Bad For You." He said, "It was our first time challenging a pop ballad," and "The melody is really good. When recording, I tried hard to include tender emotions."
Ni-ki recommended "Highlight." He said, "All members unanimously wanted it included," and introduced it as "the song that caps off a brilliant escape."
Finally, they shared their activity goals. Jungwon said, "We continue to create connection points between our worldview and the public through various content beyond the album," and "Recently we also participated in blood donation. I hope to continue expanding these connection points going forward."
Jake added, "Using this activity as a stepping stone, I want to meet more ENGENEs in larger concert halls," and "Personally, I really like this title track. I'm also expecting good digital sales."
