[Dispatch=Lee Myeong-joo] The film "Odyssey" (directed by Christopher Nolan) has surpassed 6 million viewers.
According to the Korean Film Council's integrated cinema ticket system, "Odyssey" exceeded 6,003,310 cumulative viewers as of 3:06 p.m. on the 21st.
This comes 17 days after its release. It is maintaining strong box office performance at a faster pace than the 10-million-viewer films "A Man Living with the King" (20th day) and "Seoul Spring" (18th day).
It has also entered the top 3 box office performers among films released this year. It is narrowing the gap with second place "Spider-Man: Brand New Day" (7.74 million viewers).
Long-term success is expected. The film is maintaining the number one advance reservation rate despite being in its third week of release. Advance reservations have also exceeded 750,000 tickets.
"Odyssey" tells the story of Odysseus (played by Matt Damon), the hero who led the Trojan War to victory, returning home after overcoming trials of fate.
Matt Damon plays the protagonist Odysseus. Anne Hathaway plays his wife Penelope, and Tom Holland plays his son Telemachus.
Meanwhile, "Odyssey" is the highest-grossing film of all time (R-rated). According to Box Office Mojo, it recorded global revenue of $1.352 billion.
