Rookie girl group TWEED's approach was different. Instead of making the seven members' individuality into one color, they brought out each member's unique color distinctly. And they coordinated that difference within the music.

That direction was also reflected in the team name. TWEED started from the meaning of "coordinating flow." It embodied the aspiration to coordinate the world's diverse flows and create joy unique to TWEED.

Seo-hee described the group as "vivid." "Each member's individuality is clear. It's not about making individuality uniform, but rather a team that preserves each member's individuality while harmonizing together," she introduced.

"It's music where vitality and leisure coexist. I'm confident it will be added to playlists."

The music also focused on "coordination." They presented "soultronics" as their own musical style. They pointed out that instead of painting everyone the same color, they brought out different colors.

On the 24th, TWEED held a showcase at Yes24 Live Hall in Gwangjin-gu, Seoul to commemorate the release of their first EP "TUNE & PLAY." They took their first steps into the music industry.

◆ "We brought out seven colors"

The same direction was reflected in the team name. TWEED started from the meaning of "coordinating flow." It meant to coordinate the world's diverse flows and create joy unique to TWEED.

They are a multinational seven-member group composed of Seo-hee, Seo-yeon, Elena, Gia, Saki, Se-a, and Lee Ha-nui. Each member has their own appeal. Han Sung-soo, ABD Master Professional, took charge of production.

The members said they focused on bringing out each member's unique color rather than making different personalities uniform. Se-a pointed out, "I'm responsible for healthy energy and refreshing performance."

Elena said, "I came from America and loved singing from a young age, which made me dream of becoming a singer. Since I usually enjoy singing R&B, I want to show you my groovy tone."

Seo-yeon described herself as playing a "carbonated drink role." "I often hear from people around me that I have good expressiveness. I want to fill the performance with punchy charm," she said.

Gia emphasized her contrasting appeal. "On stage I'm intense, and off stage I have a lively charm," she explained. Saki mentioned "soft cheeks and solid dancing."

Seo-hee said, "I'm responsible for a clear and unique vocal and neat dance lines," and laughed, "and there's also the eldest unnie quality of handling things maturely." Lee Ha-nui emphasized, "I have a unique tone."

◆ "We didn't make it uniform"

The first EP "TUNE & PLAY" is an album that concentrates the team's direction. It captures the joy discovered when different generations and cultures meet within the music and are coordinated into one rhythm.

The title track is "SUN KISS." It's in the soultronics genre. Seo-hee introduced it as "music that harmoniously combines the warm sensibility of Soul music and the refined elements of electronic music."

Gia was confident that "SUN KISS is the song where each of the seven members' individual colors shine the most." "It captures free energy and a good feeling under sparkling sunlight," she said.

Elena said, "It was very unique and fresh. The point was clear so I kept wanting to listen to it," emphasizing "I was confident it was a song that could be added to playlists."

It was produced by Groovy Room. Seo-hee laughed, "They said that each member's vocal tone is different so it has characteristics, and when expressed as is, the charm comes out well. It felt like our team's identity."

The performance also preserved individuality as is. The "SUN KISS" choreography included numerous freestyle movements. Members said they received the choreography proposal and shed tears of emotion.

Lee Ha-nui recalled, "It was so good, and it felt like we received a gift that suits us well. The fact that we could show an amazing stage felt overwhelming. We all became a sea of tears."

◆ "TWEED's own rhythm"

The debut EP includes a total of five tracks. In addition to the title track "SUN KISS," they covered various genres including "ABD," "Echo," "Flip-Flop Girl," and "GRLS."

The music also focused on "coordination." Gia said, "If you listen to all five songs, the detailed genres are different, but there's a bright and energetic feeling with some leisure and languor."

Seo-hee said, "The point of soultronics is that we can coordinate different genres into one while fitting seven people's individuality into one piece of music," and "it's music that can represent TWEED well."

The reason they didn't mention role models comes from the same context. Seo-hee said, "There are many great seniors, but we didn't set role models. It's because of our goal to create TWEED's own color well."

Seo-hee chose "vivid" as a team keyword. "Seven members' individuality is clear and distinct. Rather than making each individuality uniform, we achieve harmony while preserving each member's individuality," she emphasized.

Seo-yeon said "joy" as the word to express the team. "There were many joyful experiences from preparing the stage to this moment. I want to convey that joy to everyone," she laughed.

◆ "It's just the beginning"

TWEED said that advice from Han Sung-soo MP and HYBE seniors was a great help. Seo-hee said, "They said we should be grateful to everyone who helps us. We're approaching it with gratitude."

Elena said, "They told us it's important to find fun even when practicing. Since we think our energy will be delivered to viewers if we enjoy the stage, we're doing our best at every moment."

Seo-yeon received support from her older sister Jihyo of TWICE. "She said the members are what I see more than family, so she hopes we can trust and rely on each other and be mutually supportive pillars for beautiful activities," she said.

The members revealed, "We met by doing a challenge with a senior singer from HYBE." "They cheered us on saying they hope we have healthy activities and enjoy many stages," they recalled.

Lastly, they added their determined aspirations. Gia said, "Our first goal is for people to remember the name TWEED," and "I really want to be loved by many people and receive good reviews to win a rookie award."

Se-a added, "I want to make the name TWEED known to many people through debut activities," and "Our goal is to hear that we're music to add to playlists and a team whose next music is anticipated."

Meanwhile, TWEED set various records even before debut. The pre-released "GRLS" performance video entered the top rankings of YouTube's daily popular music videos and trending music charts. It also secured a spot in Spotify's global music video chart top 10.
