"'Enjoyable throughout the runtime'…'Revival Man', a lighthearted hero film (press conference)"

A fun superhero action film has arrived. Explosive comedy, flashy action, and tense confrontation come together. It delivers nonstop entertainment.

'Resurrection Man' is based on the setting of a popular webtoon of the same name. It brings to the screen the ability of a hero who comes back to life no matter how many times he dies.

Koo Kyo-hwan added skillful comic acting to this. Kang Ki-young showcased his specialty—naturalistic performance—once again. Shin Seung-ho transformed into a weighty villain, raising the tension.

The production team of 'Resurrection Man: The Red' held a production briefing on the 26th at Lotte Cinema Konkuk University Branch in Gwangjin-gu, Seoul. Director Baek Jong-yeol, Koo Kyo-hwan, Shin Seung-ho, Kang Ki-young, and Kim Si-ah attended.

'Resurrection Man: The Red' depicts the story of Seok-hwan (played by Koo Kyo-hwan), a job seeker with no background, who discovers the ability to resurrect 72 hours after death and becomes caught up in mysterious pursuit.

Koo Kyo-hwan plays Seok-hwan. He is a character whose hot-headed nature has repeatedly led to job hunting failures. One day he loses his life to strangers who break into his home, but 72 hours later, he comes back to life. His ordinary everyday life is completely turned upside down.

Koo Kyo-hwan said, "I wanted to meet audiences with a fun work" and "While filming, I tried to enjoy the set myself first. I hoped that cheerfulness would be conveyed to audiences throughout the runtime."

The film showcases increasingly amplified action. Unlike the beginning when Seok-hwan doesn't recognize his own power, it progressively expresses the process of gradually awakening to and utilizing his superhuman abilities.

In the early scenes, he performed bare-handed action without wires. Later, wires and post-production work were added to gradually increase the scale. Koo Kyo-hwan explained, "I tried to incorporate as much humor as possible on top of the action."

Shin Seung-ho plays Black. This character possesses superhuman ability to control others at will. To capture Seok-hwan, the only one whose power doesn't work on, he stops at nothing.

He said, "I thought it was an opportunity to show audiences a side I hadn't been able to show before" and "I was drawn to Black because I thought I could express various sides of myself."

He showcases three languages. Korean, English, and Japanese. Shin Seung-ho said, "It's Black's other ability" and "They were foreign languages I'd never studied before. I did my best to study them."

Kang Ki-young carries the film. He is Seok-hwan's best friend and a capable professional at work. While he delivers pointed jabs at Seok-hwan, he shows loyalty by always standing by him in times of crisis.

Kang Ki-young concentrated on bringing out the chemistry of a real-life friendship with Koo Kyo-hwan. He said, "I wanted to express the image of a best friend anyone can relate to" and "I tried to naturally capture everything from fantastic chemistry to subtle competitiveness."

The two boasted seamless chemistry on set. Kang Ki-young said, "Koo Kyo-hwan is like a rugby ball" and "I never knew what kind of ad-lib he'd throw at me, so I was always on edge."

That tension actually elevated their chemistry. Kang Ki-young said, "I tried to catch his artistic ad-libs as much as possible" and "Looking at the result, those efforts and our chemistry came through quite well."

Koo Kyo-hwan also emphasized the acting ensemble with Kang Ki-young. He recalled in particular the car-chasing scene the two shared. "Kang Ki-young poured out new negative lines with each take," he reminisced.

He added, "Just watching that gave me a lot of acting stimulation" and "I was able to shoot excitedly with the anticipation of what kind of scene would come out."

Finally, Koo Kyo-hwan said, "The film is being released three times in a row," and smiled, "Releasing a film is always new. It feels like I'm continuing a good resurrection."

He went on, "Meeting audiences in theaters is a promise I make as an actor with audiences. I'm already excited," expressing anticipation.

Director Baek also looked forward to meeting audiences. "Rather than having a target score, I hope audiences will visit theaters in large numbers," he said.
