[Dispatch=Jung Tae-yun Reporter] "I want to prove wrong the people who thought we couldn't make it."
TNX returns with their third digital single "Die Another Day" on major music platforms at 6 p.m. on the 27th.
This is their comeback after seven months. TNX released "CALL ME BACK" in January, conveying a refreshing energy. This time, they showcase a transformed, stronger image.
Choi Tae-hoon said, "Since each comeback is precious, I did my best with this one as well," and added, "I filled the preparation process with passion and earnestness."
Eun-hui emphasized, "I prepared with even more fierce determination. I want to prove how much we've changed and that we are a team that deserves to be loved."
The new song is an alternative pop track built on guitar riffs and drum beats. Eun-hui participated in songwriting and composition. Producer Ryan Jeon contributed to the production.
Cheon Jun-hyuk said, "The song conveys a message that even when a moment feels like the end, we will push through with desperate determination. I hope you remember that passion to never collapse."
Eun-hui explained the songwriting focus. "I had many conversations with CEO Psy, and we concluded that we wanted each member's emotions to shine through. So we divided parts so each member could sing about their own experiences in their own voice."
Oh Sung-jun added, "Eun-hui thoughtfully considered which lyrics would suit each member best. I think that's an important point of this song."
Producer Ryan Jeon's involvement also strengthened the song's fierceness. Eun-hui said, "I remember Ryan Jeon PD's words: 'I want to show that the people who said you couldn't make it were wrong.' Hearing that made our comeback direction much clearer."
CEO Psy's advice was also a strong source of support. Choi Tae-hoon recalled, "What the CEO emphasized most was live performance. He told us, 'Imagine you're dead on stage and sing and dance.'"
Jang Hyun-soo said, "We thought we really had to do well and practiced frantically and performed for him. Then he told us, 'You did well, you're cool.' That one comment was a huge source of strength."
With this activity, they aim to leap forward once more. Oh Sung-jun wished, "The goal is for this, like the title suggests, to be 'not an ending but another beginning.' We want to create another start through this activity."
Finally, he asked fans, "THX, thank you for waiting. We'll show you a truly amazing stage so your waiting won't be in vain."
<Full TNX Q&A Below>
Q. This is your comeback about seven months after your second digital single "CALL ME BACK" in January. What is your determination for this comeback?
Choi Tae-hoon: Since each comeback is precious, I did my best with this one. I filled the preparation process with passion and earnestness, and I'll show through the stage what kind of heart we put into this comeback.
Eun-hui: I've prepared with even fiercer determination. I want to prove through this comeback how much we've changed, how much cooler we've become, and that we're a team that deserves to be loved.
Q. The lyrics and song atmosphere feel like 'this time you came with especially firm resolve.' What kind of song is "Die Another Day"? If there's meaning in the title and a message you want to convey.
Eun-hui: It's a song with the meaning of 'I won't give up.' It's like a declaration that no matter what hardship comes, we will never surrender. Through the new song, we wanted to open up our honest feelings about the situation we've been through and move forward again.
Cheon Jun-hyuk: It's an alternative pop song made of intense guitar riffs and drum beats. Even when a moment feels like the end, without looking back, we'll push as hard as we can with desperate determination. I hope you remember that passion to never collapse.
Q. Following the previous work, Eun-hui is credited as the sole lyricist for this new song. What did you focus on, and what are the key points to pay attention to?
Eun-hui: The biggest point of the lyrics is that members tell their own stories in their own parts. While working on the lyrics, I had many conversations with CEO Psy, and we concluded that we wanted each member's emotions to be fully expressed. So I divided parts so each member could sing about what they experienced and felt in their own voice.
Oh Sung-jun: I think the lyrics are truly charming. Hui thoughtfully considered which lyrics would suit each member best, and I think that's an important point of this song.
Q. How does "Die Another Day" differ from TNX's existing music?
Jang Hyun-soo: Until now, we've released many songs with a youthful, somewhat bright feeling. This time, you'll be able to feel our more mature side and a deeper, more serious image than before.
Eun-hui: I think the biggest difference is that we tell a story without embellishment. In previous albums, we drew imaginary scenarios for song development and worked on lyrics, but this time we directly looked back on the days we've lived through. I think you'll feel a different authenticity through the music in that aspect.
Q. With each comeback, TNX has shown musical growth and solidified its own color. Is there a part where you felt you grew once more while preparing this single?
Choi Tae-hoon: First, I feel each member has grown a lot in mindset and skill. Most importantly, the process of preparing for this comeback was an opportunity for us to become a more solid team.
Cheon Jun-hyuk: I think both our live skills and dance skills have improved greatly through preparing for this comeback.
Eun-hui: I felt growth while making raps. From debut preparation to when we made the "CALL ME BACK" album, I went through several trials and my self-esteem dropped a lot. After "Show Me The Money," my attitude toward life changed a lot. I realized everything is about momentum, and nothing works if I'm intimidated. So that attitude naturally comes through in this rap lyrics. For example, in the phrase 'just Do it just for fun / like a knight before the Jordan River / a fierce attitude even before Yama,' these lyrics well show my changed attitude.
Q. Producer Ryan Jeon participated in this single. Were there any requests during the work process or memorable moments?
Jang Hyun-soo: He often told us he hoped to see our team's fiercer, more obsessed side in this song. He also helped us a lot with mental management beyond musical aspects, and that was truly a great source of strength and I was grateful.
Eun-hui: Among the many conversations with Ryan Jeon PD, the words that stay with me most are, 'I want to show that the people who said you couldn't make it were wrong.' After hearing that, our comeback direction became much clearer. I had a clear goal: 'The reason I want to work harder now and improve is to show that the people who thought I couldn't make it were wrong.'
Q. Is there any memorable episode or viewing point from the music video shoot?
Cheon Jun-hyuk: On the first day of the music video shoot, we filmed the group choreography for about 12 hours, and I remember it was physically very exhausting. On the second day, I filmed a scene of myself falling from a high place while wired, and it was really scary. For this music video, I hope you focus on our performance and our more matured visuals.
Eun-hui: This music video shoot was physically demanding. But ironically, the group choreography scenes we filmed when our stamina was almost completely gone showed even stronger fierceness. Even with little strength left, the determination to 'make it look cool somehow' showed in the video. I think that fierceness is the viewing point.
Q. Is there any advice or encouragement you received from CEO Psy?
Choi Tae-hoon: The thing CEO emphasized most while preparing for this comeback was live performance. He told us, 'Imagine you're dead on stage and sing and dance,' and after hearing that, I approached it with the mindset of 'what's there that we can't do.'
Jang Hyun-soo: When we thought 'we really have to do well,' practiced frantically, and showed him, he told us, 'You did well, you're cool.' That one word was truly a huge source of strength.
Eun-hui: I completely redid my rap twice, and when I finally sent the final version, CEO was really pleased. Since each line of lyrics carries power with a sharp edge, he seemed to like it more. After listening to this rap demo, he told me, 'It's really good. Among all the raps you've done since joining our company, this seems to be the best.'
Q. What is your goal with "Die Another Day"?
Cheon Jun-hyuk: I want to properly show many people our TNX's solid live skills, performance, and musicality.
Eun-hui: The goal is to show that the people who thought we couldn't make it were wrong. I want to show that TNX is a group that deserves to be loved.
Oh Sung-jun: The goal is truly that, like the title suggests, it becomes 'not an ending but another beginning.' I want to express honestly what TNX has been through and create another start through this activity.
Q. One final word for the fans who waited for this comeback.
Choi Tae-hoon: Thank you so much for waiting. I'll show our passion and sincerity through the stage.
Jang Hyun-soo: Through the comeback, we'll show you such a cool stage that the time THX waited won't be in vain, so please look forward to it.
Cheon Jun-hyuk: Thank you always for supporting, loving, and waiting for us. And thank you for being with us through all these moments.
Eun-hui: With this comeback, I wanted to show THX many sides of us you haven't seen before. Because I wanted to become an artist that has grown even more, I worked harder and practiced more. We'll show you amazingly cool performances.
Oh Sung-jun: Thank you so much for waiting, and as much as we've prepared hard, we'll definitely repay your expectations with a cool stage.
