[Dispatch=Lee Ajin Reporter] CGV has put the brakes on rampant ticket scalping.

CGV announced on the 27th on its website, "As advance booking demand has surged recently, we are temporarily adjusting the maximum number of available tickets for the IMAX theater at Yongsan I'Park Mall to provide more opportunities to customers."

Accordingly, customers can book up to 1 showing per person and a maximum of 4 tickets per day. The new criteria apply to bookings made after the announcement. Reservations completed before the announcement are not affected.

Regular theaters and other special screens at Yongsan I'Park Mall will maintain existing booking rules. The IMAX theater booking regulations will be operated on a temporary basis. They may be changed or terminated depending on future circumstances.

The move appears to be in response to heightened competition for IMAX theater bookings for the recent film 'Odyssey'. 'Odyssey' is a new film by director Christopher Nolan. It tells the story of hero Odysseus (played by Matt Damon) returning home.

The entire film was shot on IMAX film cameras. However, domestically, CGV's Yongsan I'Park Mall is the only venue that can fully implement the original IMAX aspect ratio of 1.43 to 1.

The so-called prime seats sold out quickly once booking opened. Scalping issues also emerged. Secondary trading platforms saw tickets being sold at prices reaching approximately 5 times the normal price.

Finally, CGV emphasized, "We will continue to monitor macro bookings through irregular channels and ticket reselling for profit purposes."
