[Dispatch=Lee Myung-joo] BIGBANG is demonstrating a presence befitting their 20th debut anniversary. Not only their new song but also their existing hit tracks are experiencing chart resurgence.
Melon released the results of its music big data analysis content 'Data Lab' on the 1st. It stated, "Their new song 'BiiiG' has dominated the charts at once."
In fact, 'BiiiG' swept major domestic and international music charts immediately upon its release on the 19th of last month. It ranked first on both Melon's 'Top 100' and daily charts.
It also swept other domestic charts. The track secured first place on Genie and Bugs real-time charts and Vibe's domestic rising chart, and second place on Flo's chart.
The song also captivated overseas listeners. 'BiiiG' reached 2nd place on the iTunes Worldwide Songs chart (as of the 19th). It secured first place in Japan, Hong Kong, the Philippines, and more.
There is another notable fact. BIGBANG's past hit tracks were also resurrected. Songs released 20 years ago have been re-examined, achieving chart resurgence.
Melon stated, "Recent songs from the concert setlist 'XX: Cosmos in Goyang' including 'Every Day', 'Spring Summer Fall Winter', and 'Lies' have made strong advances."
It added, "Streaming from fans who embarked on a 'BIGBANG 20th anniversary' review ahead of the concert and fans extending the concert's lingering impact has been added."
The most popular song was 'Every Day'. According to Data Lab, this track averaged 224th place in the daily rankings (July) but jumped to 67th place on the 'Top 100' (as of the 24th).
Passionate responses poured in following the concert. It stirred nostalgia among fans. Streaming for 'Every Day' increased by approximately 298% compared to the July average.
'Spring Summer Fall Winter' rose from 231st place in July to 86th place on the 'Top 100'. 'Lies' also entered the 100th position on the 23rd of last month before surging to 90th place.
It was not just the new song but BIGBANG's name that moved the entire chart. When combining all track streaming from their releases, total plays increased 333% compared to the previous month.
Meanwhile, BIGBANG is conducting a world tour to commemorate their 20th debut anniversary. They will perform at Oakland-Alameda County Coliseum in the United States on the 4th and 5th.
