[Dispatch=Reporter Park Hye-jin] Actor Hong Jong-hyun makes his theater debut with 'Closer'.

The production side of 'Closer' held a production press conference on the 2nd at the Eum Center in Jongno-gu, Seoul, Jongno-gu. Om Man-seok, Bae Soobin, Hong Woo-jin, Choi Gang-hee, Lisa, Jang Hee-jin, and Hong Jong-hyun attended.

'Closer' is set in 1990s London. It depicts the process of four men and women becoming entangled in each other's lives. It deals with the relationships of the four people and obsession, greed, and truth stemming from love.

Hong Jong-hyun plays Dan, an obituary section reporter at a newspaper. He is a character who is confused between Alice and Anna. Kang Young-seok and Lee Do-yun were cast together.

For the first time since his debut, he challenges theater. He said, "I've been thinking about taking on theater for quite some time, but the opportunity didn't come. This time, thankfully, the connection came. I was cast last."

He continued, "I had an experience of enjoying 'Closer' long ago. When I saw it after getting older, it felt different." He added, "It's a story set in a time not far from the current era, so I wanted to take on the challenge."

Regarding Dan, Hong Jong-hyun said, "He speaks very well and has a humorous side. He is someone who actively approaches people he is interested in."

The viewing point is the process of Dan's transformation. "He is naive, but after meeting Alice he changes. When he loves, he is more sincere than anyone, but on the other hand, he is self-centered because of that. As the play progresses, Dan becomes interesting," he pointed out.

'Closer' runs from the 15th through December 6th at YES24 STAGE in Dongsungdong, Jongno-gu, Seoul. Hong Jong-hyun takes the stage on opening night.
