[Dispatch=Lee Myung-ju Reporter] Actor Lim Si-wan is heating up the night in Busan. He has been selected as the host for the closing ceremony.
The Busan International Film Festival secretariat announced on the 4th, "Lim Si-wan has been solely selected as the host for the closing ceremony of the 31st Busan International Film Festival, which opens on October 6."
The closing ceremony will also feature the 'Busan Awards' ceremony. Among the 14 films that advanced to the competition section, award-winning works will be selected. This marks the second time it is held, following last year.
The festival said, "Lim Si-wan has delivered deep resonance through his solid craft and acting ability that pierces the essence of character," and "this is the result of carefully observing his trajectory."
It added, "His reliable and stable hosting will further enhance the honor and emotion of the 'Busan Awards' and bring down the curtain on the film festival."
Lim Si-wan began his acting career with the 2012 drama 'The Moon that Embraces the Sun'. Through the film 'The Attorney' (2013), he shattered the prejudice of being from an idol background.
He has shown many facets. An anxious young man ('Misaeng'), a soldier experiencing war ('Missing You'), a persistent stalker ('I Just Dropped My Phone') and other wide-ranging spectrum performances.
In particular, he has solidified his position as a global star by appearing in 'Squid Game' seasons 2 and 3. Through his diverse activities, he swept major awards including the Baeksang Arts Awards and the Blue Dragon Film Awards.
Meanwhile, the Busan Film Festival will be held around the Busan Cinema Center from the 6th to the 15th of next month.
