'Spider-Man' Special Screening Sets New Record... "Surpassed 'Avatar 2' Box Office Earnings"

[Dispatch=Reporter Lee Ah-jin] The film "Spider-Man: Brand New Day" (directed by Destin Daniel Cretton) has set a new global box office record for premium format theaters.

CJ 4DPlex announced on the 4th that "'Spider-Man: Brand New Day' surpassed 104 million dollars (approximately 141.3 billion won) in global box office earnings in ScreenX and 4DX."

This achievement was reached in 33 days after release. It has exceeded the 103 million dollars (approximately 140 billion won) that "Avatar: The Way of Water" earned over 228 days.

The film also broke opening records. ScreenX achieved its highest opening performance in 36 countries, and 4DX in 22 countries. The cumulative audience for premium formats surpassed 6.7 million.

"Spider-Man: Brand New Day" tells the story of Peter Parker (played by Tom Holland), forgotten by everyone, confronting enemies who remember him to protect those dear to him.

It was the first Hollywood major studio film to apply the "Shot for SCREENX" method. The screen format expands from the traditional front and side screens to include the ceiling.

The film continues its box office momentum domestically. According to the Korean Film Council's integrated movie theater ticket system,as of the 3rd, it recorded a cumulative domestic audience of 8.645 million.
