[Dispatch=Lee Myong-ju Reporter] The film 'Hope' (directed by Na Hong-jin) is meeting North American audiences.

U.S. publication Variety reported exclusively on the 4th (Korean time) that 'Hope,' directed by Na Hong-jin, will open in 1,500 theaters across the United States starting the 9th.

It is the largest scale for a Korean film since 'Parasite' (2019). It aligns with the trajectory North American distributor Neon has shown through large-scale releases of films such as 'Oldboy.'

'Hope' will hold a large-scale preview screening ahead of its local release. It will have its first showing through premium theaters (Dolby, 4DX) located in New York and Los Angeles.

As a competition section entry to the 79th Cannes International Film Festival, it is drawing intense interest. Some theaters sold out immediately after preview ticket reservations began.

'Hope' is a science fiction film. It tells the story that begins when the head of a branch office in Hopohaang receives word from local youths of a tiger's appearance and encounters an unbelievable reality.

Leading actors from home and abroad take supporting and lead roles. They include Hwang Jongmin, Jo In-sung, Jongho Yeon, Taylor Russell, Cameron Britton, Alicia Vikander, and Michael Fassbender.

Meanwhile, 'Hope' is also preparing for a re-release in domestic special theaters. It will be re-screened in 4DX at 38 CGV theaters nationwide from the 9th to 15th.
