The Criminal Division 4 of Goyang Branch of the Uijeongbu District Court (Judge Kim Young-ah) held a sentencing hearing on the 8th for woman A (41), who was indicted on charges including violation of the Stalking Punishment Act.

The court sentenced A to a fine of 6 million won. This is double the summary order amount of 3 million won. It is lower than the prosecution's request of 10 million won.

The court determined that text messages that reached up to several hundred per day at maximum could cause fear to the victim. It judged that the defendant was aware of the victim's refusal.

In fact, when Hwang Jung-min changed his phone number, A contacted his son. She threatened him to unblock her (on KakaoTalk) while mentioning the possibility of her own extreme choice.

She sent messages with suicide-suggesting content and a will to the victim multiple times. She also transmitted photos of dead cats.

A admitted to these actions at the trial on determination held on the 11th of last month. However, she explained that her intent was not to cause anxiety but to settle their relationship.

It added, "It confirmed that stalking that threatens another person's life cannot be justified for any reason. We deeply respect the judiciary's judgment."

The agency also hinted at additional legal measures. The agency said, "We are planning legal action against false information spreading and maliciously edited recordings during the trial."

Meanwhile, A's side has expressed the position of appealing against the first-instance verdict.
