"Hospital name exposed as-is?"…Miyeon, accused of violating medical law

[Dispatch=Reporter Lee Myung-ju] I-DLE's Miyeon was reported for suspected violation of medical law after sharing her health checkup process.

A complainant identified as citizen A submitted a petition to the Seoul Yongsan-gu Health Center through the National Petition Portal on the 7th, requesting confirmation of whether Miyeon's YouTube content constituted medical advertising.

The concern was that a video of Miyeon undergoing a health checkup and endoscopy at a hospital in Yongsan-gu could violate current medical law. There was suspicion that she was promoting a specific hospital.

In particular, citizen A pointed out, "The video included reception, medical questionnaire, consultation, examination, scenes before and after sedative administration, and endoscope insertion. The hospital name, medical staff, and facility information were also exposed."

The complainant further emphasized, "It should be confirmed whether this video is simply health information and experience content, or whether it is medical advertising that informs consumers about a specific medical institution and medical procedures."

In fact, according to Article 56, Paragraph 1 of the Medical Law, persons other than medical institution operators, heads of medical institutions, or medical professionals are prohibited from advertising regarding medical matters.

Citizen A also raised issue with a phrase written inside the hospital reading "Health Checkup Center specializing in Esophageal and Colorectal Endoscopy." A request was made to confirm whether the hospital is designated by the Ministry of Welfare.

The video in question was uploaded to the YouTube channel "Jeondobsa" on the 1st. Miyeon shared the entire process of undergoing her first health checkup as a health advocate for the nation.

Miyeon entered the examination room for an endoscopy. After spraying throat anesthetic, she lay on the bed. Subsequently, a scene of the doctor inserting endoscope equipment into the oral cavity was captured.

Meanwhile, the Yongsan-gu Health Center plans to review whether there was a violation of medical law based on the complaint.
