[Dispatch=Reporter Lee Myeong-ju] Comedian Lee Hyuk-jae caused an accident while driving under the influence.

The Incheon Yeonsu Police Station booked Lee Hyuk-jae without arrest on charges of violating the Road Traffic Act (drunk driving) on the 9th.

Lee Hyuk-jae is accused of driving under the influence on the afternoon of the 8th at around 10 p.m. on a road near the Incheon Coast Guard Headquarters in Songdo-dong, Yeonsu-gu, Incheon, and hitting a motorcycle.

The motorcycle driver reported the accident to police immediately after. The responding police measured Lee Hyuk-jae's blood alcohol concentration, which came back at the license suspension threshold (0.03% or more and less than 0.08%).

Additional charges may be applied depending on whether the victim sustained injuries. If Lee Hyuk-jae injured a person while driving under the influence, charges under the Special Act on Handling Traffic Accidents (injury) could be applied.

The police told Dispatch in a phone call that day: "The victim left without being transported to the hospital at the time of the accident. We need to confirm whether they will receive treatment."

Investigations into the circumstances of the driving and accident are still pending. Police added, "It is difficult for us to say in how many days we will investigate now. The relevant team will coordinate the investigation schedule."

Lee Hyuk-jae left broadcasting in 2010 following an assault incident against a female employee at an entertainment establishment. He also served as a judge for the People Power Party's open audition for proportional representation young candidates for provincial council members ahead of the June 3 local elections.
