[Dispatch=Reporter Lee Myung-ju] Actors Ryu Jun-yeol and Hong Kyung meet in a mystery thriller series.
Netflix revealed the casting lineup for the new series "Outback" (tentative title) on the 11th. Ryu Jun-yeol, Hong Kyung, Jongho Yeon, Won Ji-an, and Justin Min will appear.
"Outback" is based on the webtoon "Geu Da-i." It tells the story of a protagonist who heads to Australia after hearing news of their sister's death, tracking down hidden truths.
Ryu Jun-yeol takes on the role of Minhyuk, who stands at the center of the incident. Minhyuk is a man deeply connected to all suspicions. He reveals his distinctive mysterious side.
Hong Kyung plays the protagonist Sion. She is a character determined to uncover the truth surrounding her sister's death. Following traces of the deceased, she gradually becomes caught in questions.
Jongho Yeon plays the role of Smiley, a content creator. She is a character who communicates with people through live broadcasts in Australia, displaying a spirited charm.
Won Ji-an plays Siyeong, Sion's older sister. She becomes the starting point of all the story. Justin Min joins as Han-in police officer Scott, adding vitality to the drama.
Director Han Jun-hee took overall charge of drama planning. Director Han directed Netflix's "D.P." and previously planned Wave's "Weak Hero" series.
He said, "We will portray the characters' emotions and relationships with depth" and "We will capture not only the fun of chasing the incident but also the anxiety and growth of youth."
Director Jeon Doo-gwan took on the direction. He has experience working with Director Han as assistant director on "D.P." He joins forces with "Weak Hero Class 2" writer Park Hyun-woo.
Meanwhile, the release date for "Outback" remains undecided. It will be available to watch on Netflix later.
