[Dispatch=Lee Myung-ju Reporter] Director Lee Chang-dong's new film "Potential Love" has won the FIPRESCI Prize at the Venice Film Festival.

The 83rd Venice International Film Festival announced on the 12th (Korean time) through its homepage that "'Potential Love' has won the FIPRESCI Prize (International Federation of Film Critics Prize)."

The FIPRESCI Prize is awarded by the jury of the International Federation of Film Critics (FIPRESCI) to outstanding films from that year from a critical perspective.

This is the second time Director Lee Chang-dong has received the FIPRESCI Prize at the film festival, and the first in 24 years. He received his first honor with "Oasis" in 2002.

The jury selected "Potential Love" as a winner in the "Concorso" section. They stated the reason for the award as: "It unfolds subtle dynamics of power in multiple layers."

They further commented, "It explores exploitation and class, disillusionment, love, desire, and the ownership of narrative and the ethics of storytelling. A work that stands out with perfect rhythm and restrained power."

With "Potential Love" receiving critics' recognition, its chances of winning major awards at the Venice Film Festival have increased further. The Golden Lion and other major award winners will be announced on the 13th.

Meanwhile, "Potential Love" tells the story of a dismissed worker and his wife, a documentary director and her husband, confronting hidden desires.
