[Dispatch=Reporter Jung Tae-yun] Actor Choo Young-woo transforms into an engineering school nerd.
The ENA new Monday-Tuesday drama "Love Doctor" (written by Min Hyojung, directed by An Pan-seok) released its first still cut of Choo Young-woo on the 16th. It plans to depict sweet romance and the ever-changing face of youth bearing unseen wounds.
"Love Doctor" tells the story of Park Min-jae (played by Choo Young-woo), a doctoral student who was a swimmer in high school but lost one leg due to illness, and Lim Yujin (played by Kim So-hyun), a master's student who lost direction and wandered before stepping onto a new path.
It will showcase bitter, sour, and sweet romance that bloomed in a robotics lab and the diverse daily lives of graduate students we didn't know about. Above all, Choo Young-woo and Kim So-hyun unfold the joys and sorrows of youth inexperienced in love.
The still captures his figure after giving up the dream of being a swimmer due to illness and beginning to study, finding a new life in robotics engineering. His daily life was filled solely with study and work.
A god of engineering school with outstanding intellect and remarkable looks, he is a doctoral student who has shut out romance and devoted himself only to research. What turning point will he face when he meets Lim Yujin, a master's student who transferred from the Department of Fashion Design?
"Love Doctor" is a work by director An Pan-seok. Director An has created melodrama masterpieces including "Pretty Noona Who Buys Me Dinner," "Spring Night," "Secret," and "Graduation." Additionally, writer Min Hyojung, who wrote "Rooftop Cat" and "Full House," is in charge of the script.
Choo Young-woo said, "After reading the script for the first time, I thought it was a simple story. Rather than leading with a special incident, I liked the process of two people who each lost their way for their own reasons meeting and gaining strength to move forward together."
He added, "With director An Pan-seok and actress Kim So-hyun, there was no reason not to choose it" and "I felt I could learn a lot."
Regarding the character, he explained, "Min-jae is firm, but also a person who worries a lot and is afraid. He is a friend who has carried many emotions alone after losing one leg due to illness and giving up his dream."
He said, "I thought a lot about the point and degree of controlling emotions when Min-jae's wound surfaces. I contemplated how to convey to viewers the appearance of facing the complex emotions within."
Meanwhile, "Love Doctor" will premiere on ENA at 10 p.m. on the 5th of next month. It can also be viewed on KT Genie TV and Disney+.
