[Dispatch=Lee Myung-ju] A ticket scalper who made tens of billions of won in revenue by reselling concert tickets and other items has been arrested by police.

The Gyeonggi Northern Police Agency's Cyber Crime Investigation Division 2 sent a male suspect in his 30s, identified as A, to the prosecutor on the 16th. He was charged with obstruction of business through fraudulent purchase and fraudulent sale.

A is suspected of bulk-booking domestic and foreign singer concerts and sports events from September 2018 to April and selling them at markups.

The total number of tickets he purchased was 8,967, with sales amounting to approximately 2.4 billion won. He added profits of up to 30 times or more on top of the original ticket prices.

In one case, A purchased a BTS concert ticket for 110,000 won and sold it for 3 million won. A Bruno Mars performance ticket he bought for 250,000 won was sold for 1.2 million won.

Using criminal proceeds from ticket scalping, he acquired multiple properties. Although he had no other occupation at the time, he entered into sales contracts for one apartment and two commercial buildings in Gyeonggi Province.

The apartment has already been sold. Police identified 1.26 billion won in commercial buildings and deposits in A's name as criminal proceeds and made a pre-indictment asset seizure.

Meanwhile, the revised "Performing Arts Promotion Act Enforcement Decree" has been in effect since last month, which stipulates detailed measures to prevent ticket scalping.
