"Became a quadruple million seller"…CORTIS surpasses 4.1 million copies of new album

[Dispatch=Lee Myung-ju Reporter] CORTIS has reached the quadruple million-seller milestone with a single album.

According to Circle Chart's latest count (for the 6th to 12th), CORTIS recorded cumulative sales of 4.1 million copies with its second mini album "GREENGREEN."

Among K-pop albums released domestically this year, only two have surpassed cumulative sales of 4 million copies: BTS's "ARIRANG" and "GREENGREEN."

The album sold 2,313,291 copies in first-week sales. This represents approximately a fivefold surge compared to the previous work's first-week sales of 430,000 copies, demonstrating growth.

The album's popularity did not wane even after its release. It surpassed 3 million copies in sales 11 weeks after release in July. It then added another 1 million copies in two months.

Music was key to the album's success. Led by the title track "Red Red," fresh sounds such as "Young Creator Crew," "Asa," and "Blue Lips" garnered attention.

The album format itself heightened the desire to collect. Beyond the physical album familiar to the public, merchandise items were released including an LP, lip balm, dice, and a CORTIS ball.

The expansion of the fanbase beyond Korea to overseas was also positive. "GREENGREEN" ranked third on the U.S. Billboard main album chart, Billboard 200.

This is the fastest entry into the top 3 among K-pop groups in history, excluding project teams. On Billboard's latest main chart (dated the 19th), it landed at number 188.

The excitement for the new album extended to the previous work. The debut album "Color Outside the Line" sold 1 million copies this year alone, with cumulative sales of 2.3 million copies.

Meanwhile, CORTIS recently completed the finale concert of its first concert tour "Foot Your Phone Down" in Yokohama, Japan.
