[Dispatch=Park Hye-Jin] Acclaimed filmmaker Alfonso Cuarón is visiting Korea for the first time. He will attend the Busan International Film Festival.

The 31st Busan International Film Festival announced on the 18th, "We have confirmed director Alfonso Cuarón's first visit to Korea," adding "You will be able to experience the cinematic world of Cuarón father and son in one place."

Director Alfonso Cuarón won the screenplay award at the Venice International Film Festival for "Y tu mamá también" (2001). He won the Academy Award for Best Director for "Gravity" (2013). With "Roma" (2018), he received both the Venice International Film Festival Golden Lion and his second Academy Award for Best Director.

Director Cuarón will visit Korea with his son Jonas Cuarón, a director who co-wrote "Gravity."

Director Cuarón's first schedule will be attending the opening ceremony of the Busan International Film Festival. After an IMAX screening of "Gravity," he will hold a special talk. He will also participate in a separate master class.

He is expected to share stories about cinematic choices. He will discuss with audiences his approach to cinematography focused on characters, restrained editing, and direction that explores character emotions.

You can also meet the new work of director Jonas Cuarón. "Gavachó Champion" has been invited to World Cinema. It will be screened at the Busan International Film Festival as an Asian premiere.

"Gavachó Champion" depicts the life of a Mexican immigrant struggling to survive in America with a lighthearted yet sharp perspective. After the screening, the director will participate in a conversation with the audience.

Jonas Cuarón has directed "Desierto" (2015) and "My Friend the Chupacabra" (2023) since "Gravity."

Meanwhile, the 31st Busan International Film Festival will be held from the 6th to the 15th of next month in areas including the Busan Cinema Center.
