[Dispatch=Yuha] Singer and actor IU marked her 18th debut anniversary by carrying out meaningful charitable giving.
EDAM Entertainment revealed on the 18th, "On the occasion of IU's debut anniversary, she donated 50 million won each to the Korean Social Welfare Society, Seoul Rehabilitation Hospital, Heart Heart Foundation, and Habitat for Humanity Korea."
The donations will be used across multiple areas. They will support stable independence for self-reliant youth in transition and rehabilitative therapy for children and teenagers facing economic hardship.
The funds will also be used to support livelihood, education, and mental health for female self-reliant youth in transition. They are also planned to be utilized for improving the residential environment of national meritorious persons.
IU has continuously practiced charitable giving on special occasions including her debut anniversary, birthday, and Children's Day. The donation was made under the name "IU Uana," combining IU and Uana (the fandom name).
The cumulative donations for this year alone total 600 million won. In May, IU delivered 100 million won to children and teenagers in commemoration of Children's Day. The same month, on her birthday, she donated 300 million won for neighbors in need.
Meanwhile, IU released her new digital single "From This Star" on the 10th. The title track of the same name reached No. 1 on Melon's "Hot 100" immediately after its release.
