Jun of SEVENTEEN releases first EP in China... "9, growth after repeated practice"

[Dispatch=Lee Myung-ju Reporter] Jun of SEVENTEEN is releasing his first Chinese solo album since debut.

Pledis Entertainment announced on the 24th, "Jun will be active as a solo artist in China. He will release his first Chinese EP '9' on the 28th."

'9' is an album inspired by the Chinese folk legend 'Jiuming Miaoyao' (九命猫妖), which tells that a cat gains nine tails and enjoys eternal life after undergoing spiritual practice.

The number '9' also represents the Chinese character '久' (jiu), which symbolizes eternity. It means approaching completion through the accumulation of time and repeated spiritual practice.

Through this new album, Jun conveys the message that facing emotions that arise from relationships with others without avoiding them is the path to growth.

Related teasers have also been revealed. Various objects inspired by '9' appeared inside a shimmering glass marble. It hinted at a new world.

It has been approximately three years and two months since Jun released new music in the Chinese-speaking market. In 2023, he released the Chinese digital single 'PSYCHO'.

Beyond music, he has been actively engaged in acting. Jun appeared in the film 'Rebirth 2' (重生), which opens next month on the 3rd. He took on the role of the protagonist Su Cheng.

He was also cast in another film, 'Give Me Back the Summer Vacation'. This work is the next project by director Bao Jingjiang, who received the Best Adapted Screenplay Award at the Golden Horse Awards.
