[Dispatch=Reporter Jung Tae-yun] Japanese dancer Yamada Lia, who appeared on Mnet's 'Street Dance Girls Fighter 2', has passed away. She was 16 years old.

The deceased's family announced on Instagram on the 24th, "Lia passed away on the 18th. Lia fought illness for over a year and endured to the end."

They continued, "Lia loved dancing. We are grateful to everyone who danced with Lia, cheered for her, and supported her." They added, "We hope that the dancing and smile that Lia loved remain in everyone's hearts."

Lia announced through social media last March that she was suffering from a serious illness. She explained that her condition was an immune-related disease and that she required chemotherapy and bone marrow transplant for recovery.

In July last year, she also shared that she had cut her hair and begun treatment. However, after more than a year of battling illness, she passed away.

Lia was born in 2009. She appeared on 'Street Dance Girls Fighter 2' as an individual participant and demonstrated outstanding dance skills. She later joined the crew Jam Republic and won the final championship.
