[Dispatch=Reporter Park Hye-jin] Lisa of BLACKPINK became the first K-pop solo artist to win the Best Pop award at the VMA.

The '2026 MTV Video Music Awards' (hereinafter '2026 VMA') took place on the 28th (Korean time) at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles, United States.

Lisa won the Best Pop category with her solo song 'Dream' that day. She beat out Ariana Grande, Charli xcx, Olivia Rodrigo, Sabrina Carpenter, Tate McRae, and Taylor Swift.

She shed tears upon receiving the trophy. "Thank you for giving me such an amazing award," she said, and "I'm also grateful to those who made this song with me," giving credit to her team.

She continued, "So many dreams from late nights brought me to this place today. Thank you for the inspiration," and "And to my fans, without you I would not be here. Thank you so much for your love and support," she said.

Will Lisa be able to take home trophies in the remaining three categories? In addition to Best Pop, she is also nominated in the Best K-pop, Best Cinematography, and Best Editing categories.
