[Dispatch=Yuha Sky Reporter] A woman in her 40s who spread false information about actor Ko Se-won has been sentenced to prison.

The Criminal Division 3 of Anyang Branch of Suwon District Court held a sentencing hearing on July 23. A was indicted on charges including violation of the Stalking Punishment Act and defamation through spreading false facts on information and communication networks.

The court sentenced A to two years in prison. She was also ordered to complete a 40-hour stalking treatment program. "The defendant did not reach settlement with the victims," the court said, adding that "even considering that there is no prior criminal record for similar offenses, stern punishment is inevitable."

The court stated, "The defendant repeatedly posted false posts on internet bulletin boards with content from which the victim's identity could be easily inferred," and "since this case, the victim has suffered serious disruption to professional activities including acting."

The court comprehensively reviewed obstetric and gynecological medical records, ultrasound test results, official inquiries, expert opinions from the Korean Medical Association, and recorded statements. As a result, the court determined that the claims made by A regarding pregnancy, miscarriage, and sexual assault were false.

Ko Se-won's side stated there would be no leniency or settlement. Separate from criminal responsibility, they said they would pursue civil damages claims and enforcement procedures to hold her accountable.

A's allegations began in 2021. At the time, she posted on an online community saying, "I became pregnant by actor K, who is called the crown prince of housewives, and was abandoned. I had a miscarriage." She also attached materials claiming to be miscarriage medical records.

A claimed that Ko Se-won refused contraception and promised to take responsibility. She continued with additional allegations afterward, saying Ko Se-won forced her to photograph body parts and send them, and that he was keeping the related video.

Ko Se-won immediately refuted this. He said, "I never requested videos or photos," and explained, "Those videos were never leaked anywhere. I was keeping them unavoidably following my lawyer's advice to preserve evidence materials."

Instead, he complained of suffering continuous stalking from A. Ko Se-won said, "She sent thousands of threatening text messages. She even sent messages to my mother and my ex-wife," and claimed, "She registered with my previous phone number and impersonated me."

He continued, "She even visited my parents' house and the apartment management office," saying, "Innocent people around me are suffering. Within this persistent stalking and baseless allegations, the situation itself is painful."

Meanwhile, Ko Se-won debuted as a KBS 19th-term public talent recruit in 1997. He became known through appearances in tvN's 'Immoralist Young-ae' series and others.
