[Dispatch=Myungju Lee] BTS has become an "Honorary Guest" of Bogotá, Colombia.

Colombia's 'El Universal' reported on the 1st (Korea time) that "Bogotá City designated BTS as an 'Honorary Guest' through 'Ordinance 413.'"

"Honorary Guest" is an honor awarded by the Mayor of Bogotá to visitors who have contributed to citizens' welfare or urban development in diverse fields including politics, arts, sports, and education.

The city explained this designation by saying, "BTS has contributed to raising the international status of Korean music and culture since their debut in 2013."

They have had an impact beyond Korea to overseas as well. The city noted that "their visit will make Bogotá known as a center of the cultural industry and a host of world-class events."

Bogotá Mayor Carlos Fernando Galán said, "BTS is more than just a band," and added, "We hope all audiences will experience the city itself."

He continued, "Bogotá City recognizes that BTS's visit is a special event for the city as well. We will welcome them as 'Honorary Guests' here."

In fact, their concert is expected to have a significant economic ripple effect on the region. Fans' expected spending is projected to reach 99 billion Colombian pesos (approximately 40.6 billion won).

Air demand has also increased. Flight bookings to Bogotá around the concert period have risen 46.6% compared to the same period last year. Domestic flight bookings increased 59.3%, and international flights increased 39.5%.

Bogotá City will illuminate the city in purple throughout to commemorate BTS's tour. The City Hall and landmark Torre Colpatria will be lit in purple.

On the 2nd and 3rd, when the concert takes place, additional public transportation routes will be operated. Eight routes heading to major local areas will run to coincide with the end time of the concert.

Meanwhile, BTS is embarking on the 'Arirang' South America tour. Starting from Bogotá, they will head to Lima, Santiago, Buenos Aires, and São Paulo.
