[Dispatch=Reporter Lee Myung-joo] Rapper Northface God (real name Han Sang-hun, 34) has apologized for infringing on the portrait rights of pro gamer Faker (real name Lee Sang-hyuk, 30).
Northface God posted an apology on SNS on the 7th. "I apologize for inserting Faker's AI into the music video and causing confusion and inconvenience," he said.
He explained it was a mistake due to lack of knowledge. He claimed, "There was absolutely no bad intention to generate profit by using the face of a celebrity (Faker)."
The music video in question has been deleted as of 9 a.m. on the 8th. Northface God added, "I am sorry to Faker and SKT T1 fans who were inconvenienced."
The incident emerged from a music video for a track on his new album "Time to Glow 3." He used an AI-generated image of Faker without permission.
When AI content based on real people is used commercially, legal punishment can be imposed. Claiming damages for emotional distress is also possible.
Meanwhile, Faker is a League of Legends (LoL) esports emperor. He recently competed as a national representative at the Aichi and Nagoya Asian Games and won a gold medal.
